I am a College Freshman at Marymount University located in Virginia who just really loves genealogy. Not many people in my family are interested in researching our ancestors, but they do enjoy a good story. On my blog, you will find manifestations of my obsession in the form of both stories about my ancestors and tutorials about how to find information on yours. My other obsessions include programming and art, and who knows you may see some evidence of those loves on this blog as well (in the appropriate genealogical contexts of course!)

  1. I have to say I've thoroughly enjoyed exploring your site. I'm not a fan of blogs, as most often they are so complicated you need to be a rocket scientist to read them, or so silly they are not worth reading. I like the way you explain everything, link items etc. You have a very good knack for this and I will enjoy following you. Another history/genealogy nut Cara

  3. Hello Renee, Since our contact last year (via Ancestry.com where you administer your great-uncle's account) I have really enjoyed visiting your blog. When I see a new post, I get really excited! This new one is a delight since this Isaac is my 5th great-grandfather. You mention that he was related to the other Isaac, a captor of John Andre. Do you know how they were related? Also, I noticed what I believe to be a mistake in the first paragraph of this post. You name Benedict Arnold, not John Andre, as the captured party. Thank you so much for your scholarship, attention to detail and love of genealogy. I wish I had discovered its delights decades ago. Again, thank you!

    1. Why yes, you are correct thanks for telling me about that! And yes, I do know how they are related. I'll refer to your fifth great grandfather as Older Isaac and the Isaac who captured John Andre as Younger Isaac. Older Isaac was Younger Isaac's uncle. Younger Isaac was the the son of Older Isaac's brother Martinus Van Wart/Wert and his wife Rachel Williams.
